    contacts - from TB to WLM


    Has anyone successfully imported a cvs file of contacts from Thunderbird into Windows Live Mail?
    What has happened to me (I have tried more than a few times) is that a confusion develops between first and second name, display name, and email address. Each time I import the cvs file the result is a surprise - I never know what to expect.

    Can anyone suggest a way of accurately importing TB's contacts into WLM, please? The reason I am considering switching to WLV is because lately TB seems to take forever to load.

    Hi:

    I do use TB (have done so for 100 years, since the days of Netscape Mail) and I do not use WLM.
    So, I would be more inclined to troubleshoot and fix TB before changing email clients.
    Aside from profile issues (e.g. corruption, lack of compacting, bad extension, etc.), the most common cause would be some sort of conflict with a security application, either AV and/or firewall.

    For TB help, I suggest the following:
    Standard diagnostic - Thunderbird - MozillaZine Knowledge Base
    Safe Mode - MozillaZine Knowledge Base
    Category:Issues (Thunderbird) - MozillaZine Knowledge Base


    Having said that, perhaps this article here has the info you need:

    Some TB help articles that might help, using their recommendations "in reverse", to export from TB, rather than to import into TB:

    Another option might be to use Mozbackup to save your TB address book, and then to use that file to import it into WLM, assuming WLM supports doing so.

    (P.S. I think you might be referring to the TB address book file as a "csv" file, rather than "cvs"?)

    Thank you very much MoxieMomma for your kind advice. I start off by mentioning that yes indeed I was referring to csv rather than cvs. I am 70 years old; I got up at 6 and for three hours I fought "WLM importing" to a point of frustration. I shall take your advice and continue using TB which brings to mind a peripheral question: Is it safe to revo-uninstall Windows Live Essentials? About a year ago, I believe, someone told me that uninstalling WLE would cause very serious, probably irreversible, damage to my machine. Is this true or is it like uninstalling any other program?

Im trying to get outlook contacts to show up under my windows contacts under user\contacts I send a lot of faxes and it's annoying not to mention inconvenient to manually add contacts so they show up in fax and scan.
