IE10 Suddenly Blocking Most Websites

I use IE10 on my Windows 7/64-bit computer.

I suddenly started getting the message "IE 10 blocked this website from displaying content with security certificate errors" with most websites I log onto. Most of these websites are ones I have used extensively over the past few years, and security has never been an issue in the past.

I don't remember making any changes to my security settings, so I don't know why I'm now getting this message so frequently. Has Microsoft increased/changed the security certificate parameters?

Any help or advice would be appreciated......how can I decrease the frequency with which I get these messages?

I have this same problem with IE 11/Win 7/64 Pro, and it is driving me crazy. You can see it for yourself just go to (for example):

https://www.cnn.com/

The browser intercepts this with the following message:

"There is a problem with this website’s security certificate.

The security certificate presented by this website was issued for a different website's address.
Security certificate problems may indicate an attempt to fool you or intercept any data you send to the server.

We recommend that you close this webpage and do not continue to this website.

Recommended Click here to close this webpage.

Not recommended Continue to this website (not recommended). "

....

However, if I change the link to:

http://www.cnn.com/

The web page opens normally. Maybe this has something to do with the IE wanting to browse some websites (like those that apparently have an invalid Sec Cert) only in Protected Mode (Internet Options/Security/Enable Protected Mode)? How can I disable this option, it does not seem to allow unchecking that option.

The message I quoted was not a popup. Like I said, when I entered the CNN link into the address bar, instead of taking me directly to the CNN website, IE 11 opened a window in the browser to "warn" of the security question. It provided links that you could then use to continue on to the CNN website "against recommendations". It happens on other websites that do not have their security certificates updated. If the website's cert is currently good, no such window appears and you go directly to the website.

Myself, I think it would be better if there was a way to "opt out" of such a warning, let me worry about the websites I want to visit.

By the way, that link you post is not a "https" secure link. Like I said it works ok for an "http" non-secured link like yours.

Hi Durango,
you could try reseting it to the default values.
control panel >> internet options >> advanced >> restore .

The default sets the Private Browsing mode on permanently, which cannot be turned off (if you unselect it, it just turns back on the next time the browser starts). So every website is invoked with the https address. If you select custom mode, then you must set the parameters yourself, but I am not sure how to set them.

The second CNN link I gave was an http link if you manually deselect Private Browsing, and that will work OK if you are calling a website whether the site has a good cert or not.
