    Outlook Issues

I'm having two recurring issues with Outlook that I've not been able to find a fix for:

    1) Each time I open Outlook I get a warning message: "data file did not close properly the last time it was used and is being checked for problems. Performance might be affected while this check is in progress"

I'm pretty certain I can't be shutting Outlook down incorrectly each and every single time I close it...

I went looking for a fix and find folks discussing this issue with Vista-I did all of those recommended fixes and nothing has worked-wondering if this is a different issue with Windows 7

    2) Each time I open Outlook it immediately does a send/receive-I have the send/receive checkboxes all off so that it shouldn't send/receive unless I click on 'send/receive'. I've checked these, and unchecked them again, I've set it to schedule a send/receive once and hour and when that didn't work I set it back to not having any scheduled send/receive. I have no idea what to do next-am wondering if this issue might be related to the failure to shut down correctly issue above.

    Would appreciate any advice

    Thanks

Why not do a system restore and or system image (might be best approach), from a time prior to the problem

This has been happening since I first installed Windows 7 several months ago (the evaluation build)-so no system restore point...

Plan B. Save your mail with the import, export command in file upper left. Export to external or flash drive etc. Download a different mail service, there are many. Then import your contacts and mail again. If you really want your current mail service try downloading again, (might be good to try to uninstall first) but save contacts and email.
    Let me know.

For the first issue there could be a timing issue if you shut down your PC with outlook running or shut outlook and immediate shut down. Outlook does take some time to shut down fully so you can sometimes get this. If you run task manager and watch the outlook entry when you shut it down you will be able to gauge the shut down time for your system.

with the second issue check the options mail settings page there is an option to send immediately on connection. make sure this is not checked
