Sites cannot connect to ajax.googleapis.com

Many, many sites are suddenly not loading properly because, from what I can tell, they cannot connect to ajax.googleapis.com.

That host is NOT listed in my HOSTS file, nor am I blocking it in any other way.

Since so many web sites rely on ajax.googleapis.com (which isn't a good idea), I cannot use a good chunk of the web.

Has anyone ever heard of anything like this?

Is it possible that I inherited an IP address from someone that abused googleapis.com, and Google is blocking my IP from accessing it?

Is anyone else having issues with sites that rely on ajax.googleapis.com?

I've never seen anything like this.

Change your DNS to use 8.8.8.8 and try again.

Windows

DNS settings are specified in the TCP/IP Properties window for the selected network connection.
Example: Changing DNS server settings on Windows 7

1. Go to the Control Panel.
2. Click Network and Internet > Network and Sharing Center > Change adapter settings.
3. Select the connection for which you want to configure Google Public DNS. For example:
   
   
   • To change the settings for an Ethernet connection, right-click Local Area Connection > Properties.
   • To change the settings for a wireless connection, right-click Wireless Network Connection > Properties.
   
   If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.
   
4. Select the Networking tab. Under This connection uses the following items, select Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4) or Internet Protocol Version 6 (TCP/IPv6) and then click Properties.
5. Click Advanced and select the DNS tab. If there are any DNS server IP addresses listed there, write them down for future reference, and remove them from this window.
6. Click OK.
7. Select Use the following DNS server addresses. If there are any IP addresses listed in the Preferred DNS server or Alternate DNS server, write them down for future reference.
8. Replace those addresses with the IP addresses of the Google DNS servers:
   
   • For IPv4: 8.8.8.8 and/or 8.8.4.4.
   
   
9. Restart the connection you selected in step 3.
10. Test that your setup is working correctly; see Test your new settings below.
11. Repeat the procedure for additional network connections you want to change.

It was a DNS issue. Real interesting how the DNS was broken for resolving such a major site.

This didn't work for me. Is there another solution?

Disable any browser addons such as noscript or ghostery.

I don't have either of those types of extensions. BTW - I did not have any settings showing in my DNS - I added both the configurations for the IPV4 and IPV6 setting indicated in the test your settings page - https://developers.google.com/speed/...r_new_settings
