Does it not close with the x at the right most side of Error tab?
Try going into Internet Options (the cog icon top right), and see if HomePage has been changed.

Hi - no it doesn't close with the x on error tab - the homepage is still google
Hi have altered the homepage to google.com which has come up with google.ie and that seems to have got rid of the three.ie page but if i put google.co.uk it comes back again?
Edit: Hmm, you wrote last post while I was composing
Alright, please open Internet Options again and take a screenshot of it, then click Tabs and take another screenshot. Attach both here.
Try CTRL+SHIFT+DEL while IE is open. Delete with default options and see if it helps.
If not, browse to C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\ and open "hosts" file (with notepad), see if there is a google.co.uk entry
:) You got it half right, but I am not sure the problem is there since you said it works when changing homepage.
Still, take a screenshot. Open Internet Options, see the Homepage section, then below it is Startup, go one down, there is the Tabs section. Click the Tab button there and post screenshot of it.
However, see my post #15 also.
maybe i can only get google.co.uk when i am in the uk?
For me it works like this:
- if I enter google.com - it takes me to google.com.tr (Turkish google page)
- if I enter google.co.uk - it takes me to the UK version.
So it should take you to Ireland with google.com, and to UK with google.co.uk

No listing of google.co.uk on notepad - will try your other option now
