    IE 11 won't save favorites

I recently got a complete computer rebuild after my modem died, and I'm happy with everything, same Windows 7, except IE 11 won't save favorites anymore. The computer shop guy working on my computer uninstalled and reinstalled IE 11 but that didn't fix the problem. The shop owner is having same problem.

After I took it home I did some research and found a lot of people having the same problem, and found a solution to uninstall IE 1 which I did. Then the same computer shop guy explained how to 'hide' IE 11 and that worked. However, same problem with IE 10!

So I'm hoping that someone can maybe shed some light on this problem. I do have a ginormous favorites file but now I have a huge hard drive so have plenty of room. Any help and hopefully fix this problem would be welcome.

Let's see if it's in the default location:
Using Windows Explorer, navigate to: C:\Users\<your user name>\Favorites

Let's see if you have access:
Right click on the Favorites folder and select Properties.

Let's see if there's anything currently stored there:
Post an image of the General Tab window.

You may have a toolbar or malware that's taken control of IE.

    1. Create a Restore Point - (Option Two): System Restore Point - Create

    2. Try this IE reset: Internet Explorer - Reset
Read the notes carefully. Some items are reset/deleted but Favorites should be maintained.

Look at this post concerning Kaspersky 2016 and not being able to save IE11 favorites:
Add to Favorites and Log out on websites not working

    Do you have Kaspersky 2016?

Kaspersky Lab Forum > KIS 2016 Problems With IE11

It appears the only fix is to roll back to version 15. My personal thoughts would be to uninstall it, reboot and install MSE.

    Getting a 'fix' from Kaspersky

Today I called the computer guy and he recommended that I call Kaspersky which I did.

They are aware of the bug and are working to fix it. Meanwhile they are emailing me a set of detailed instructions. I'll respond to this again (if it works) and that also means I may have to reinstall IE 11 but that's not a problem (I don't think).

Thanks again for the support! Google Chrome is not a bad browser but I've been using IE for a very long time and I'm more familiar with that and Chrome isn't as user friendly from what I've seen so far. But I'm from the long pony tail generation hahaha I'm not a geek - I'm a wannabe.

    Tree sap in January

This may take a few days to get this done. I called to find out when their response could be expected and was told that they will be taking at least a day to look over my information to figure out a 'fix', and then they would contact me. So don't wait up ok?

This afternoon I have received 2 emails from Kaspersky stating that they are 'waiting customer reply'. I have replied to them once, and then again just before this email. I guess I'll have to call them to find out the latest glitch flavor.

I know that 'many others' are looking at this problem because if they 'are working on a fix' then numerous other people have already contacted them but the 'fix' isn't in the form of a patch yet.

So patience will be required here. Hopefully it won't take too long - I'm going nuts trying to deal with email in webmail instead of Outlook not to mention another browser and both leave a lot to be desired as far as I am concerned (i.e. no way to track receipt or read of emails).
