Short Post , Problem with explorer 11

how to stop explorer 11 on win 7 from opening a new window each time i "transfer" web address to a location?
Simply left clicking on the web address and puting it on desktop or dir.

    Thanks

    Short answer: don't do that

Seriously though - there is a work around, but it is annoying too.

    Turn on the favorites bar
Drag/drop to there - then drag/drop to desktop

Dragging straight to the desktop makes a text file with a file extension of ".WEBSITE".

Dragging to the favorites bar still creates the old/normal text file with an extension of ".URL".

You can drag/drop either of those shortcut files into notepad to see what they look like.

Let's see if others know of a way to prevent the ".WEBSITE" shortcut files all together.

I've never tried to prevent them from forming.
