Problems deleting emails after upgrading to Wind 10 then uninstalling

I thought i'd have a go at the new windows 10 and decided after a couple of days that i preferred windows 7 so uninstalled 10.
First thing that happened in live mail was all my previously received emails downloaded again so i had to go through and delete hundreds of them. However, i could delete the new ones ok but not the initial ones. Then it won't let me delete any emails which are now in the delete box.
"An error occured" is all i get.

Rhiannon when you went back to 7 just how did you do that? Personally I wiped the drive using the DISKPART clean all to make sure that no remnants of 10 were left before I clean installed and then checked updates as they came up - I set updates to let me know what is for download and install just to avoid the wretched KB3035533.

So can you let us know what your current situation is regards the install of 7.

Do you know i don't actually remember how i did it! It was very straight forward, i think i went into Control Panel and found Windows 10 and clicked uninstall.

When the original pop up advertising Windows 10 upgrade appeared many times on my computer it said if you wanted to switch back it would be no problem and everything would be as i left it. That was right apart from this one annoying feature.

This morning i went into Windows Essentials and run the repair facility but it has made no difference.

If i uninstall WLM and then reinstall it would i lose all my emails?

Well Rhiannon there are so many folks coming back to 7 from 10 with many issues and I would hazard a guess there are a lot of remnants of 10 still on your machine.

Reinstalling WLM won't lose your emails it just means you have to download them all again. So if that is what you are going to do then delete what you can before you reinstall WLM - it just means you have to set the accounts up again.

Yes I am afraid so and just uninstalling form the Control Panel like a lot of other programs there is sometimes a lot of stuff left in the registry and the update KB303553 is one that leaves a registry entry called GWX which is the 10 thing and even trying to delete it from the registry cannot be done even as an administrator. It takes a clean install to do that and then one must watch for that update (above) when doing the Windows install and Hide it so one is not pestered or nagged with 10 crapware.
Just for your info when uninstalling programs especially with security programs there are are dedicated tools for that purpose and again some still leave registry entries - Symantec (Norton) is a classic example.
But a good program for uninstalling any run of the mill stuff is this Download Revo Uninstaller Freeware - Free and Full Download - Uninstall software, remove programs, solve uninstall problems it takes a little longer to run but is more thorough.

Having said that as it is you are still left with I am pretty sure soem 10 crap on your machine and the problem with your emails.

One simple thing you could do is run these
SFC /SCANNOW Command - System File Checker
Disk Check < if necessary include the /f and /r in the command line as per Option2

    no luck then these

SUPERAntiSpyware | Remove Malware | Remove Spyware - AntiMalware, AntiSpyware, AntiAdware!
Malwarebytes | Free Anti-Malware Detection & Removal Software
    AdwCleaner Download
delete any rubbish found with the malware scans
(NB If one is running Kaspersky security it may rant about ADW - just ignore it or disable Kaspersky while the ADW is being used)
