WLM checking mail for 1 minute

I received an email about a required update to my mail to keep it working with coming changes to Windows. I checked the source as well as I could and it looked legit, so I downloaded and installed the update. Now I find that when I start Live Mail, it spends about 60 seconds checking mail - about 4-5 times as long as it used to, even when there is no new mail.

My Windows is 7 Ultimate, and WLM is 2012 build 16.4.3563.0918.

My anti-virus software (Avast and Superantispyware) find no bugs present.

Have I been caught out, and do I need to back out the update (how?), or re-install WLM?

Thanks, Mike

Hi Mike,

The patch has been causing issues with WLM on some PC's. I had it installed on mine and seems okay but I've seen reports of it causing problems and isn't necessarily needed with all accounts.

My advice, do a system restore to roll back to the previous WLM version then wait for a few weeks to see if you do actually need the patch.
If WLM continues to work, then you won't need it.
The email MS sent isn't very clearly written.

BSOD while checking browser e-mail(?)
I believe my computer blue-screened twice within the span of an hour, both times while checking e-mail. (It blue-screened at least once, but the screen spontaneously turned off twice.) This happened about a week ago too, and I think I was using MS Office at that time, so nothing particularly heavy....

Hi all; Although the boxes about checking for mails at start-up and checking every such-and-such minutes are disabled in the options-menu, live mail keeps checking for mails at start-up. Any idea would be appreciated very much, cheers and thanks

Clock is off by less than a minute.
I noticed that my clock is a bit slow. I think it started happening within the last week or so. Prior to that there were no problems. It is set to synchronize automatically but I manually synchronized and sure enough it is now correct. So is it not synchronizing on it's own? Any ideas?

One minute freezes
My Win7x64 home was installed recently by AVAdirect (the computer builder). I haven't seen any BSOD but perhaps a few times a day it freezes for 30 or 60 seconds and then merrily goes on its way as if nothing wrong ever happened. I see lots of warnings in the system health test (attached) but I...
