IE 11 damaged by WEBROOT Secure Anywhere
Hey all,
I recently came to the end of my subscription with Webroot, and decided to make a change.
All in the same day, I removed Webroot (no easy task), installed updates (including Security Essentials), uninstalled SE, ran Malwarebytes (which claimed to have found something, but I have been unable to determine what it was and subsequent scans have found nothing else),installed McAfee, and restarted a number of times. At one point immediately after the Webroot uninstall, IE 11 became unusable and refused to launch. I may have jumped to the wrong conclusion, but the impression was that Webroot damaged my system when it was uninstalled.
I attempted to restore to a point before all of it, but IE 11 still would not work.
I uninstalled IE 11 which started me off at IE 8.
After dozens of attempts to run updates to IE, I ended up starting at 8 and working my way up through updating 9 and then 10. But 11 refuses to be installed from any source.
I went to the registry and the only entry I could find was under GWX "Blocks". In my typical idiotic fashion, I deleted the entry. It didn't hurt anything, but IE 11 still will not install, and now I am receiving Windows death threats for using IE 10 and being told to upgrade to IE 11 immediately.
That is a slight overstatement, but close enough. Anyone have any ideas that would not include a full wipe and clean install of Windows 7?
