    Cannot download anything

When I attempt to download something, somewhere in the process I get notified that "xxxxx cannot be downloaded". No other error message is offered. However, Windows Updates do install.

    Win 7 Home Premium - SP1
    IE 11

    Help me please.

    TIA.

Make sure this is installed https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/...urity/ms16-023
by looking in your update history.

Check that downloads are allowed in IE 11.
    1. Open Internet Explorer
2.Click the Tools button, and then click Internet Options.
    3. Click the Security tab, click on Internet, and then click the Custom level button.
    4. Scroll down to the Downloads category, and set File download to Enable.
5.Click OK, and then click Yes.

If you have another computer available, download another browser, put it on a USB stick and install it on your broken computer.
Are you able to download with a different browser?
This is to determine if the problem is IE 11 or some setting on your computer.

Last resort: reset IE 11 to defaults. Note: you lose all your favorites, cookies, passwords, addons, etc. It is not reversible!

Are you able to download with a different browser? I was able to download a PDF file in Chrome.
This is to determine if the problem is IE 11 or some setting on your computer.

P.S.: Windows Updates DO download & install.

What antivirus and antispyware program do you use? Boot into Safe Mode with Inetwork support and try downloading again. Most malware won't run in safe mode.
