Thanks, but have tried all that. I've just installed Office 2007 and so have outlook, but I'd take WM back if they would make it part of window. I still haven't given up hope.

I for another would like to see win mail back in the rtm of
windows7.
Is there a way to copy it over from Vista?

That's what I was going by there Post #19+#20.
The problem I keep running into is seen with the WinMail.exe and wabmig.exe files. When trying to give each full control in permissions both are greyed out. The rest see full control.
For the rest a utility for Vista called TakeOwnership took care of those easy enough. Once the new shortcut is dragged into the Start folder and pinned to Start it doesn't do anything when clicked following a few system restarts quite yet.
That won't be necessary now. Besides that's a rather old thread better left as a reference.
That permissions thingy being greyed out could be because you haven't taken ownership properly?
I have full control on all of the files. The problem is seeing the WM inbox open right up when first starting the system as a result of dragging the shortcut into the start folder.
Once that is closed I have to manually browse to the WinMail.exe and right on it directly choosing the run as admin option to open up WM again. Or I end up seeing the can't find message store folder.
My email is one of the most important aspects of my computer. I will not change operating systems on my four 'puters if mail is not included. Just like many people I know have stayed with XP, I may end up staying with Vista. It's not as polished as XP but will offer more features than 7 apparently.
