Outlook 2016 and Red X's

This problem has plagued be for a while but I am just now getting around to trying to solve it.

Outlook 2016 Win7.

When I receive some emails, mostly from advertisements from such as but not limited to Amazon, there are white boxes containing little red x's instead of pictures. This does not happen when I read them on my Iphone or Ipad. There the pictures appear but never in either of my two Win machines. Not only do the x's appear in Outlook but also in Cox's webmail.

I have applied the registry adjustment described in KB 2779191 but that did not correct the problem. Here is the patch:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\x.0\Outlook\Options\Mail
DWORD: Send Pictures With Document
Value: 1

This doesn't bother me too much for I am seldom interested in such emails but I find them very annoying.

Thanks for any help anyone can give.

Outlook does that to prevent infection from malware & viruses. Usually there is some notation included at the top of the email suggesting that if you wish to view everything you should use your internet browser.

Thank you

OK, I guess if that is the way it is, so be it. Oh, seems like I remember seeing such a note in earlier in an earlier version but it doesn't show up in my 2016. I used Action/view in a browser and got the pictures.

Thanks again.

You are welcome & thanks for getting back. That notation I mentioned shows up on my Outlook 2013, but perhaps they have changed it in Outlook 2016.
