It is a known limitation that switching to IMAP will only fix the problems with Mail, the calendar will still be a no-go.

When my WLM stopped working, I switched to Thunderbird. I don't like it quite as much as WLM but it's passable.
This seems the way to go especially given Live Mail is due to end Jan 2017.
I agree so far that Thunderbird appears ok functionality wise.
It isn't that important for me at the moment but Thunderbird is supported on linux. I'm running Thunderbird portable from the non OS drive so I may be able to fire up Ubuntu and have the same mail capabilities.

Just when I thought it was safe to stick to Thunderbird (maybe thunderbox) their Bcc doesn't work!
If you go onto a hotmail account or gmail account Bcc works fine!

Also read receipt doesn't appear to work either. I gather gmail doesn't support read receipts but I have a hotmail account. I consider Bcc and read receipts essential.

MJ mate I am a tad confused over what you mean by the Bcc not working I just tried it using my TB and used the Bcc and the messages went through ok to my hotmail and bigpond accounts (in TB) . I sent the test message from the TB hotmail account if that makes any difference, and for the record the message went through to both of my WLM accounts.

I was using the portable version and moved to the latest installed version.
Bcc is still not working as I expect it to. If I send an email with a Bcc both will appear in my sent folder. But if I Bcc myself or another hotmail user we don't get it in our inboxes.

If you Bcc yourself and send a message to someone else you should get the Bcc in your inbox. Live Mail used to do this fine.

The send receipt appears to work sending to a hotmail account but not a gmail account - I think this is a known issue with gmail.

I think these are auto/default settings for people you always want to cc or Bcc. I'm dealing with the normal email where cc and Bcc will depend on the specific email.

BTW your hotmail address is exposed below your blank outs - you may want to remove this.

Yep I was sort of thinking that too but I guess if you could find some way of copy paste a contact it would be better than nothing.

Did you try EM Client? I use it quite a bit and found it much faster than Thunderbird. I don't bcc so can't comment.
