Upload progress appears extremely fast, but fails

    Problem description:

Whenever I try to upload files to any websites (GMail, free file hosts, etc), or even instant messaging services (Yahoo Messenger), the upload progress bar increases rapidly until it's at 100% and just stays there. The actual upload progress is not displayed correctly. For small files, I just have to wait it out until it actually gets uploaded. For bigger files, I don't know the actual upload progress of the file so I don't know how long it would take to upload it.

    Attempted solution:

I searched around and found out that it's due to local proxy settings or anti virus programs. After uninstalling my ESET NOD32 antivirus, the problem went away. I installed AVG Free 9 to replace my old NOD32. Then, the problem started to happen again.

What should I do to fix this problem? Uninstalling my antivirus permanently is not an option.

Add a folder containing the files to your anti-virus's exception list. Put all files in this. It won't be scanned which might be causing the problems. Also, start IE8 with no addons or try a different browser. Are you using wireless or ethernet?

I tried adding the files I'm trying to upload and the browser exe file to AVG Resident Shield's exception list, but the problem still occurs.

I tried using Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox and IE8 but they show the same behaviour.

I'm using ethernet on my desktop. The problem also occurs on my laptop (which also runs windows 7 and ESET NOD32 antivirus) that uses wireless.
