    Win7/IE8 "Windows Security" Problem

    Hi

I'm trying to login to an account I have at this URL: https://newsaccount60.forteinc.com/

When I go to this link, I get a Windows Security panel asking for a Username & Password. When I input the correct credentials the panel just reappears and then the page goes to an "Invalid Credentials" page after a few retries.

I have contacted CS at Forte Inc and they tell me that I am presenting a blank username with the correct password.

I can login with the same credentials on a WinXP machine.

I'm using Outpost Security Suite which I've tried disabling to no avail (the same app is running on the XP machine). I've also checked for cookies but cannot find any referring to the Forte Inc site.

Has anyone got any idea what could be causing this problem?

    Cheers - Andy

    Hi,

    Maybe you can try this

In you IE go to Tool > Internet options > Advance > Then click on Reset and close

Go to Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Credential Manager\Add generic credentials

Remove the credentials there and Add your then try

    Hope that helps

    Hi

Thanks for the reply. I reset IE as you suggested and checked generic credentials but there was no mention of the account I'm having problems with. Tried to login again but it still fails.

    Hi.

Ah! Missed the 'add' bit. Tried adding the credentials (URL, username & password) but still no joy.

Computer time & date are correct (UTC/GMT).

    Thanks both for your replies.

Stupids question but did you type your password in lower and upper case.

Usually https sites require a complicated password.

    Hi again.

No, I've not tried Firefox. I've never used it.

As to the password, I'm using cut & paste from the email provided by Forte Inc. They have told me that I'm presenting the correct password but a blank username.

I'm just in the process of doing a clean install of Windows 7 on a the desktop, once that's completed I'll try from there, if that works, I'll know there's some setting wrong on this computer.

I'll post again when I've tried that.
