Windows 7: Cannot Send Web Pages or Links by e-mail

Cannot Send Web Pages or Links by e-mail

Mozilla Thunderbird is my e-mail default and accessible via the Command Bar icon in Internet Explorer 8. However, the options under the File tab on the IE8 Menu Bar to send a page or link by e-mail are greyed out and I cannot find any settings to activate them.

This may be because the functions only work with a Microsoft e-mail program, but I would be grateful if anyone can confirm this or, better still, advise how to activate it.

Hello pottyperson,

Welcome to 7 Forums.

Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Default Programs\Set Default Programs. Click on TB and make sure it is set as default.

Hope this helps.

Thanks Gary. I had already done that, but have checked again and confirmed that Thunderbird has all its defaults.

SOLVED!

I did some further tinkering and found a solution myself, very close to that suggested by garysgold. For anyone interested, here it is.

Control Panel/Default Programs/Set program access and computer defaults. "Custom" had the dot. I expanded this option and dotted "Mozilla Thunderbird" (leaving the dot at "Use my current e-mail program" will not do). Then clicked "OK" and all was well.

(Bizarrely, when I return to this, the last-mentioned dot has returned to "Use my current e-mail program" but the function remains available.)

Thunderbird isn't in the list, nor is .eml listed under file associations.

You might try FileTypesMan v1.56

But you;ll need to know the MIME type, which I cam't recall, maybe maikto:
