    Hi all
you can tell the browser to report a different OS and browser version in a lot of cases

just Google on "Masquerading your Browser" -- simple to do with Firefox and most versions of Linux -- also works with IE -- you need to understand a bit of JAVASCRIPT -- not in my area I'm afraid but it DOES work.

    Cheers

Try User Agent Switcher .. an add on for FF... works like a charm...

Browser issues are a completely separate matter to being refused website
access due to your chosen operating system.

I have not found any site except the one highlighted in this thread, which
refuses me access solely because I'm using Windows 7 - and for no other
    reason whatsoever...

Try running some full antivirus scans with your AV program, and maybe even Malwarebytes. Blocking access to MS sites is a common tactic of some malware.

If you're using IE8, you could also try resetting it.

SOme of the IE settngs were tightened down a tad in IE8.

For sites like PayPal, add them to your Trusted Sites which allows them to do more than the normal untrusted sites (which is everything else).

PayPal works fine for me oin W7/IE8 though I do have them in my trusted sites (and I cranked my untrusted sites down to min functionality btw). So given that, it's not anything to do with Windows 7 itself...

I say again, it is not browser specific...

The Register news site will be running a story on this shortly...

They have previously chastised Parcelforce over their unwillingness to permit Linux users the courtesy of using their portal to the full...

Parcelforce website cold-shoulders Linux lovers ? The Register

Now they'll be putting Parcelforce in the spotlight for failing to accommodate Windows7 and for failing to state Vista compliance...
