How to save sent items on an IMAP server in Live Mail

My sent messages are not being saved in sent Items folder either on server in IMAP or in Sent Items folder in Live mail, also not saving with POP account either, they just seem to disappear on me

Hi nauticatarcher and welcome to Windows 7 Forums

Press Alt to bring up the menus and then click Tools and Options... Select the Send tab and check that the highlighted option is set as shown.

Go to website of your email provider. They usually have an option to save sent email. This would be particularly important in the case of IIMAP.

    Check the root folder path

I had exactly this problem until I realised the folders were off the Inbox - added Inbox as the root folder (under the IMAP tab on the account properties) and it all started working

Hi I configured an IMAP Google apps email account with Windows Live Mail; and while sent emails are saved if I send them through the web interface, they do NOT if I send them through WLM.

The smtp address is different from the imap.

    any suggestions?

In WLM (desktop client) sent items are saved in the Storage Folders group for IMAP accounts and in the individual POP3 accounts for pop3/smtp accounts. So pay attention which account is being used to send mail and look in the appropriate place.

It might also be that Live Mail is saving the sent message locally, as opposed to in your account, this was a problem with me for awhile. I wound up switching mail clients.

One more reason to find another email program. Live mail is without a doubt the worst product MS has offered in a long while. It's absolutely, incredibly unfunctional. I am angry that I had to spend so much time to find this out.
Do yourself a favor and use another program to use...
