Back up Windows Mail Contact list to disk

I want to make a backup disk of my Windows Mail contact list, in case I ever need to re-install Win Mail and don't have to manually type in all the names. Where is the Windows Mail folder located and what is the contact file link? Thank you for your help.

Hi armyers and welcome to the forum!

It's actually quite simple. In windows mail, just go to your contacts, highlight all the items there (or Ctrl+A), then right-click to select copy (or Ctrl+C) and paste it to a folder you created to store your backup :)

Now if you want to restore them back to windows mail, just reverse the process and there you have it, a simple solution to back up your contacts.

Alternative Solution: You can use Windows Easy transfer to backup all your mail, contacts, etc. This can be accessed by going to Start>All Programs>Accessories>System Tools>Windows Easy Transfer. You can configure what you want to include in the back up and its very user friendly.

    Cheers

Hello Armyers, and welcome to Seven Forums.

Yep, you can just copy and paste them from the C:\Users\(user name)\Contacts folder.

If you plan on using Windows Live Mail in Windows 7 instead since Windows Mail is not included on Windows 7, then this will show you how to import the contacts into Windows Live Mail if it does not do so automatically for you.

    Hope this helps,

Just store everything the Contacts folder, Windows Live Mail looks there by default. The contacts folder will be there whether you have a mail program or not so it isn't going to disappear if you reinstall.

Thank you for your help. I was able (with your help) to transfer my mail contacts to a floppy disk.
