I just did a clean install on my computer so there was no flash player. I did all of what you said but it didn't work. I uninstalled it and reinstalled it. I still can't watch any videos on Fire Fox or Internet Explore.
You need the plugins. Are you 32bit or 64? Both require flash to display video from the likes of you tube, hulu, et al

Let us know if you need help and JMH's suggestions work

I'm running a 64bit OS. How do I get plugins for it?

    Make sure you did:

    1. go to adobe Flash Player download site
    2. select different Operating system/browser
    3. Select your OS (probably Win 7, Vista, Xp what ever you have)
    4. Then Make sure you select for Firefox 'other browsers' and for IE 'Internet Explorer'
    5. Download and install

    Hope this helps.
