    Settings for Windows Live Mail

    Hi,

I have just bought a new HP Pavilion laptop & can't receive emails using Windows Live Mail. I am using exactly the same settings as I do on my other 2 desktop computers which use Vista & Windiws Mail. I can send from the laptop, but not receive. Any ideas??

You said that you are using the same settings, but I think that you should check them again. Did you check all the port settings? Did you check that both are set for POP or IMAP? Did you check that all the advanced settings are the same? Others here may have other ideas, but, I tend to think that a very careful check of all the settings will reveal that something is different. Be extra careful with the advanced settings.

There are only three settings required for the retrieval of mail:

    - Username
    - Password
    - Mail server address (POP3 or IMAP)

Double check that you have these correctly entered and the Password may be case sensitive. If all is OK and you still cannot retrieve mail, delete the Account and set it up again from scratch. It has been known for the details to be absolutely correct, but the Account is actually corrupt and just won't work.

Which is your e-mail provider ??
Did you get an error when you click on send and receive ??
If Norton has e-mail scanner is better to turn it off also your Windows Firewall turn that off then try. Because i have seen it most of the times the Mail scanners or Firewall used to block
