Outlook Express v6 was around when XP was launched.

Did you check the issue date?

That's what I thought, but, I've installed a couple of other apps that are not new and they seem to work ok, but as OE6 gors into the system might cause a problem.

I might put in an old HD and install Windows 7 and try it.

Eeeeewwww.... Go out to Mozilla and get Thunderbird version 3 for free.. then install the cool add-ons and get it to sync with your google address book and then add the lightning addon and you can have calendar functions just like the full blown outlook.. all for the amazingly low price of FREE!

According to some sources, Thunderbird III ain't exactly 'all go' with some of its third party plugins... a few glitches have shown up already... and for my part I bet it's nothing like as easy to move the message and data stores as has been the case with Windows eMail clients...

I read your comment about Outlook and some of the replies. I can say without hesitation, you do not want to go the Outlook route, useful life has come to an end. You may wind up with others, down the road, but now start with windows live mail. It was made specifically with Windows 7 in mind. In fact, it is my mail application. Go to the windows live website Mail - Windows Live and you will find a choice of many goodies, all for free that you can choose from, windows live mail is only one. There is messenger and many other exciting programs. So why not give products made for Windows 7 a chance before trying others? You can always delete them if you do not like it. You may even want to make a system restore point and try everything out for a week or so and if you do not like anything you can just use system restore to go back to square one. Yes, you could always go to the control panel and uninstall, but so many times remnants of the program remain with that technique. In any event, I wish you a hpapy holiday and hope that you are happy with your final decision.

Windows Mail is also a defunct product, replaced by Windows Live Mail.
