New Laptop Internet Explorer won't open

I received a new laptop and used it for several hours.
I then shut it down and restarted and Internet Explorer won't open.
I have internet connection but can't open Internet Explorer.
    Any Suggestions?

Try this, go to tools. Then internet options then connections and then set up. Then click on set up new connection. This will reset IE and it may work again.

since you have a laptop I will assume you are using a router...

    is the router firmware updated?

    does restarting the router help?

any problems shown or settings that need to be configured in the Network and Sharing Center?

have you tried to connect the laptop directly to the modem and leaving the router out of the equasion and see if that makes a difference?

is this just a problem with IE or you cannot make any connection with the internet?

going to need a little more info than just IE isn't working

Thanks to all for your help
It was like it was never installed. I used it for a long time and then it just disappeared after I shut it off and turned it back on.
I ended up calling HP's help line and they got it going for me by using System Restore. They said this is a common problem with the new laptops.
