Windows 7: is windows live mail freeware - any catches?

is windows live mail freeware - any catches?

just wanted to know if i sign up for windows live mail are there any catches or requirements...is it a free service from microsoft as part of their software programs for users who have already bought microsoft OS for their computers?

Have been using for some time now. No problems, no fees, an e-mail from MS team from time to time about features available, but nothing that would be considered spam quantity. Works for me !

Only complaint I have about it is the extras it likes to load, mainly messenger

I had the same probs with WLM but came across a freeware programme by the name of 'Zap Messenger'.

Now messenger has hit the dust. Well worth a try - recommended.
