Flash no longer works in any browser

I just got this new computer, running 64-bit Windows 7 Home Premium. Everything was working fine at first, but then it automatically updated some things. Now, Flash doesn't work online anymore, in any browser. The content starts to load, then the browser freezes, and I have to force quit it.

I have the most recent version of Flash Player, and I can still play .swf files I make myself, so I don't know what to do anymore.

I'm fairly sure that this isn't an isolated problem, as a friend of mine is experiencing the same thing.

In a possibly related problem, .avi and other video files on my hard drive no longer play, nor do music files.

I doubt my specs are needed, since this is almost certainly a software problem, but I'm running on a Dell Studio, with a 2GHz dual core processor and with 4Gb of RAM.

    Hello IanCharles,

    Welcome to 7 Forums.

You could try a restore to a point before this started happening. This will remove the updates. Then reinstall them one at a time (making restore points along the way) to determine if/which one of the updates is the problem. System Restore

    Hope this helps.

+1. Some of the updates has screwed ur system. System restore is the best option. Or, remove the hotfix or updates one by one and check. You can remove them from programs and features, view installed updates.
Or remove all your codec packs if any, any players and flash. Try to open a flash site in browser and it will prompt u to download the plugin. install and check.

Could be that the browser is corrupt
In search type turn windows on

You will see turn windows features on and off

    Turn IEt off

    Shut down

    Boot up

    Turn IE on

Warning, you cannot surf the net until you turn it back on. Let us know.

You can also try going to Internet options (Tools on top of IE Screen)

    Programs

Manage Add ons. Disable them If your probles are resolved Turn them back on one by one. So we know the cause of the problem
