Firefox 3.6 RC1 Available for Download

The first Release Candidate Build of Firefox 3.6, codenamed Namoroka, is just around the corner, literally. If all goes according to plans, Mozilla will make available for download the fully-fledged Firefox 3.6 RC 1 tomorrow, January 8th, 2010. On a delivery meeting on January 6th, the developers noted that they were “hoping to ship to [the] beta audience on Friday of this week.” While this does sound rather unreliable, the fact of the matter is that Mozilla is extremely close to delivering the first Release Candidate development milestone of Firefox 3.6.

So close that early adopters can already get a taste of Firefox 3.6 RC. On January 6th, you have been able to read right here on Softpedia that the first build of Firefox 3.6 Release Candidate had been made available for download via Mozilla’s FTP servers. At the time of this article, the candidate builds of Firefox 3.6 continue to be up for grabs.

Users should, however, bear in mind the fact that Firefox 3.6 RC Build 1 is nothing more than a nightly release of the RC milestone and not the actual bits. Such versions are designed for Beta testers who are comfortable with running pre-release software on their computers. And with the full RC just a day away, users might as well decide to wait, and download and run the actual Release Candidate of Firefox 3.6 from Mozilla.

At the same time, Firefox 3.6 has been plagued by a variety of problems. Mozilla postponed various Beta milestones, including the RC several times, as it worked to resolve show-stopping bugs affecting the open source browser. While it could make Firefox 3.6 RC available for download on January 8th, Mozilla could also push the release back. Still, it is highly probable that by the end of this weekend, or at the start of the coming week, users will get to get their hands dirty while test-driving Firefox 3.6 RC.

Firefox 3.6 Beta 5 (Beta revision 5) for Windows is available for download here.

Firefox 3.6 Beta 5 (Beta revision 5) for Mac OS X is available for download here.

Firefox 3.6 Beta 5 (Beta revision 5) for Linux is available for download here.

Firefox 3.5.7 and Firefox 3.0.17 are available for download here.

I had known about this, but I wanted to wait until FF 3.6b5 prompted me to download it. Well, now I have it! I don't really notice much of a difference though.

I agree. I also downloaded it and did a few tests and not much visable change. I'll wait until the final and check it out again.
Thanks
