Transfer WindowsMail to Thunderbird I've been trying for a week to do this, but no luck.
I can't find a way to transfer from WindowsMail to Thunderbird in Windows 7.
Every time I try to import, it doesn't work.
I downloaded an AdOn for Thunderbird, as recomended on various sites, but that didn't work in Vista or Windows 7.
Any clues on how to do this?
Thanks

What error message are getting exactly (screenshots are nice)? Did you upgrade from Vista to Windows 7? Was thunderbird already on the pc when you did the upgrade? If the answer is yes, especially to question 2, I would try installing the newest version of TB, (that way it could make any repairs to the current installation), then remove and reinstall the addon, then try the transfer again. Hope this helps. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Gigabyte OS Windows 7 Ultimate CPU Intel Core(TM)2 Quad- Q9550, 2.83GHz Motherboard G31M-ES2L Memory 4GB Graphics Card ATI Radeon HD4600 Sound Card On Board: Monitor(s) Displays Acer AL2223W, Acer AL1916 Screen Resolution 1680 x 1050, 1280 x 1024 Keyboard Microsoft Laser 6000 Mouse Logitech Optical Trackman PSU 600W Case Cooler Master Hard Drives 160GB

I have a new machine with 7
Installed the latest versin of T
No error message.
When I try to use the Adon, it just stops half way through. I click it to import, click Import all, then it jsut freezes. Tried it in Vista and Windows7. Can't import messages, as it doesn't allow me to choose WindowsMail.
Tried many times - no luck. WOuld love to be able to simply transfer my messages, but can't find how to do it.
thanks! | My System Specs | | |

Can't get it to work in 7 or Vista.
Tearing my hear out.
Gonna try backing up on Vista with Mbox2xml, and then transfering the files.. who knows, it might work.

Windows mail - Import to Thunderbird: Windows mail stores the messages as .EML files. They are normally stored within the C:\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows Mail directory. If you can't find them look in the Tools -> Options -> Advanced -> Maintenance -> Store Folder to find where Windows Mail stored them. You can use the ImportExportTools extension to import .EML files. It lets you select multiple .EML files at the same time.
Export the contacts using the Windows Contacts program as a .csv file. You can import it using Tools -> Import -> Address books -> Text Files - Export from Thunderbird: Export the messages as .EML files using the ImportExportTools extension.
This method worked for me. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Mesh 955 XGS OS Windows 7 64 bit CPU Athlon X4 955 Black edition Motherboard ASUS M4A78 Pro Memory 8GB DDR2 Graphics Card 1x Radeon 4890 Monitor(s) Displays IIyama ProLite E2208HDS Screen Resolution 1920X1080p Keyboard MS wireless 6000 Mouse MS wireless laser 7000 PSU 600 watt Cooling Standard Hard Drives 2x 1TB Samsung SATA2

Thanks for the info.
I understand your instructions.
But, when I go to Import and search for folders, it won't recognise the AppData folder.
When I go to C it isn't there, so I can't get to the WindowsMail folder.
Also - when I copy the WindowsMail folder from my old PC, it doesn't copy them with .EML.
Any suggestions on how to do this?
Thanks!

Are you saying that just by browsing thru windows explorer, you cannot find your appdata folder? I have never used wml, so I can't say if it transfers the eml files with windows transfer automatically. I usually take anything to chance when using stuff like easy transfer, as a precaution, I make sure to manually add files or folders that I am not sure it transfers. In your run field if you type %appdata% and press enter, what do you see? | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Gigabyte OS Windows 7 Ultimate CPU Intel Core(TM)2 Quad- Q9550, 2.83GHz Motherboard G31M-ES2L Memory 4GB Graphics Card ATI Radeon HD4600 Sound Card On Board: Monitor(s) Displays Acer AL2223W, Acer AL1916 Screen Resolution 1680 x 1050, 1280 x 1024 Keyboard Microsoft Laser 6000 Mouse Logitech Optical Trackman PSU 600W Case Cooler Master Hard Drives 160GB
