Windows 7: Mozilla Firefox

Mozilla Firefox

I've been experiencing very slow start up times with firefox 3.5, so i googled a solution and came up with this: Workaround for Firefox 3.5 slow startups on Windows - Mozilla Links
I followed the directions but couldn't seem to find some of the folders it suggested i took care of, using the standard windows explorer approach. So i used the command prompt to open one of them and found it existed.
Now I have two issues and was wondering if anyone had any solutions; Seemingly hidden folders in windows 7, and a working solution to the slow firefox 3.5 start up.

Any and all help is greatly appreciated.

Would you happen to be running Norton as your firewall/anti-virus? Only reason I ask is because I had the same problem. I uninstalled Norton 360 and moved to Kaspersky... Firefox now loads a lot faster and performs better overall.

Do you have any / many extensions installed?

Avasts resident scanner will slow it down a bit as well.

True.... try disabling your Avast and then launching Firefox.

I don't have many extensions added, and also feel the problem may be more with the browser. Although i was hoping someone may know a solution besides waiting for a new firefox. This problem i also noticed with my previous OS, Vista. I'll try disabling some features with avast as well.
