Type default in search...select default programs.... unselect Windows mail as defaualt.

If you still want to use the mail client, you must put a short cut, on the desktop or task bar to be able to activate.

I thought you were getting the splash screen on boot up. The only way I know to stop the splash screen when using the mail client would be through the registry, which I would not suggest nor know how to do. There may indeed be other ways and other member will adivise, if that is the case

Sorry that I could not be of more help.

If you've installed Windows Mail in Win 7 then surely you'll do OK with editing the registry.
Can I disable the Windows Mail splash screen in Windows Vista?

Dont forget back up, backup, backup. You may even want to export your registry.
