Best browser is really subject to personal preference.
Fastest? True some are faster than others, but the difference truly isn't much.

You can try Firefox or Opera.

but i have a feeling it will not be much better. IE8, Chrome, Firefox, Opera
are the 4 main ones. Each better than others in their own way.

    I would advise:
Try them all for a little bit. See which one you prefer the best, and suits your needs the best. All of them are good browsers.

Wishmaster is right, each browser has its fans, and there is no one right answer.

Well I thought Chrome was fast, I mean it was at the beginning when it first came out, so fast that I kept it at default browser from FF.

Now IE 8 loads a lot faster, but sticking with Chrome, though sometimes I run into "not applicable with your browser" websites and have to go with IE8, so now I use both. Like Wishmaster says, its personal preference.

Many agree that Chrome is the best (subjective opinions). I do not use it because of a big limitation, it does not work on all websites. Works on almost all but not all.

I think it would be better put that many agree that Chrome is the fastest...while Firefox is the most stable/versatile...Internet Explorer 8 is the most compatible...Opera is the most well rounded....

really it's just a personal choice, i personally recommend that you keep 2 browsers on any pc. i keep firefox on and thats what i use along with various plug-ins that while maybe not making it faster makes it more pleasant to use. the other browser i use varies often changing between the top choices as they offer new features i want to test out. the biggest benefit to having multiple browsers though, is it seems someone always wants to check something and i prefer opening an alternating browser as opposed to having them mess with my settings and saved passwords and what not.

I actually disabled IE8, because I never use it. Anywhere I needed it to go , I can go with IE tab in Firefox. I haven't ever tried Chrome, Opera, or any other one, but I love my Adblock Plus and NoScript with Firefox.....so I guess paranoia wins out.
