Chrome keyboard shortcuts

Hi.
I thought this might be helpful to people.

Apologies if it's old news


Keyboard shortcuts in Chrome

Alphabet keys
----------------------------------------------------------
ctrl + A = select all in the current tab

ctrl + B = opens/closes up the bookmarks bar

ctrl + C = copy to the clipboard

alt + D = move the focus to the address bar and select the
text there (ctrl + L does the same thing but needs 2 hands)

ctrl + E = moves your cursor to the address bar and puts it
into search mode (see ctrl + K)

ctrl + F = brings up the find-in-page box

ctrl + G = find the next match for your find-in-page text
found with ctrl + F

ctrl + shift + G = find previous match for your input in the
find-in-page box found with ctrl + F

ctrl + H = opens a tab showing your History

ctrl + I = nothing*

ctrl + J = opens the downloads tab

ctrl + K = moves your cursor to the address bar and puts it
into search mode (see ctrl + E)

ctrl + L = move the cursor focus to the address bar and select
the text there(at + D does the same thing but needs 2 hands)

ctrl + M = nothing*

ctrl + N = creates a new window

ctrl + shift + N = creates a new window running in incognito
mode

ctrl + O = pops up a file browser so you can open a file from
your hard drive in Chrome

ctrl + P = prints the current open page



ctrl + Q = nothing*

ctrl + R = does a page refresh on the current tab

ctrl + S = nothing*

ctrl + T = creates a new tab

ctrl + shift + T = reopens the last tab you were browsing (but
is now closed). Google remembers the last 10 tabs.

ctrl + U = show page source

ctrl + V = paste from clipboard

ctrl + shift + V = paste from clipboard without formatting

ctrl + W = closes the current tab

ctrl + X = delete and copy to the clipboard

ctrl + Y = in a text box, redo the change(s) you did with ctrl
+ Z

ctrl + Z = in a text box, undo the text you just typed

(NOTE: "nothing*" meaning, nothing obvious we can tell now.)

Tab Navigation
----------------------------------------------------------
ctrl + Tab = moves you forward through your current open tabs
(see also ctrl + PgDown)

ctrl + shift + Tab = moves you backward through your current
tabs (see also ctrl + PgUp)

ctrl + 1, ctrl + 2, ctrl + 3,...ctrl + 9 = switches to that
open tab

ctrl + PgDown = switch to the next tab in your window (see
also ctrl + Tab)

ctrl + PgUp = switch to the previous tab in your window (see
also ctrl + shift + Tab)

alt + Home = goes to your home page

Tab visuals

ctrl + + = enlarges the font size of the text on the page

ctrl + - = reduces the font size of the text on the page

ctrl + 0 = restores font size of text on the page to "default"

Javascript

alt + ~ = brings up the Javascript debugger

Function Keys
----------------------------------------------------------
F3 = find the next match for your input to find-in-page box
found with ctrl + F

Shift + F3 = find previous match for your input in the
find-in-page box found with ctrl + F

alt + F4 = close the current window

ctrl + F4 = close the current tab or current pop-up

F5 = refresh the tab

ctrl + F5 = refresh the tab and ignore the cache

F6 = move the focus to the address bar and select the text
there

Task Manager
----------------------------------------------------------
ctrl + ESC = opens the Chrome task manager

** (the next one is a little known Windows short cut but I
raise it up because it is so similar to Chrome).
ctrl + shift + ESC = opens the task manager for the operating
system (if you're running Vista - saves having to go to the
intermediate screen)

Address Bar short cuts
----------------------------------------------------------
ctrl+Enter = automatically add "www." before and ".com" after
what you've typed into the address bar

Backspace = go "back" to the previous tab in your browser

shift + Backspace = go "forward" to the next page in your tab

ctrl + Backspace = delete the previous word in your address
bar

ctrl + "left arrow" = go to the previous word in the address
bar

ctrl + "right arrow" = go to the next word in the address bar

Link short cuts
----------------------------------------------------------
ctrl + "click on a link" = open that link in a new tab

shift + "click on a link" = open that link in a new window

drag a link to a tab = open that link in the tab

drag a link to the space between tabs = open a tab to that
link, between the two tabs
