    Need help with reconnecting to internet after windows 7


    Need help with reconnecting to internet after windows 7 update?

    Got hold of windows 7 Ultimate 32 bit and reformatted my windows xp media. with my computer getting slower and slower figured it was time to Finlay reformat. did a clean install. it looks great love how it feels, works, and looks. but i have ran in to a issue. i thought i Simply forgot how to reconnect to internet so i got hold some Consumer service and we went threw every way this poor person who tryed help me could do to reconnect me. but seems there is some issue with the windows 7 that i cant reconnect to internet cant seem to evan id a IP address. anyone help me ?

    was xp but now windows 7 ulta 32 bit
    router wireless-g WRT 54G LINKSYS
    plugged in directly to router not wireless


    if someone can help me it would mean alot cause im trying to job hunt and its hard with out internet. and my bf will be attending college soon so i need this computer up and working soon.
    i am barrowing my bf's sisters's laptop but i have to give it back casue she in college as well. i barrowed it to try find away to fix this problem.

    i had never need drivers for it it was plugged in and it worked. but i supose i can give it a try how would i go about finding out what divers i need with out opening my computer

    lol why cant you open the computer? when you say it worked what do you mean? when you plug the wire in does it connect, do you get a little computer icon in the system tray, the thing in the bottom right corner?

    i do have the computer icon at hte bottem but it has an x on it. but the computer turns on and it has all normal funtions . i connect to the modem and it and back my computer lights up so its connected. but my computer dosent seem to reconize it.

    i can hop on msn or yahoo messanger and talk with someone one on one if anyone is passiont enough to posabley help me understand and get this working again. plz and thank you all for trying to help me guys

    what do you mean ping ? now let me state if i havent already is that insternet works the router works cause another computer that works off it wirelessly that belongs to my bfs parents works with the internet but im plugged directly in and having issues. didnt have any before i reformatted. maybe i am missing something. jsut have a ton of stress on me with just got done moving, school, job hunting, and alot of other personal issues.

    ok, click start and then at the bottom you have a search bar, type cmd.exe. open that. then type ipconfig/all. copy the results here and after that ill have a better understanding as to were we are.
