    location problem with my browser

I use firefox 98% of the time. I have version 3.6. I use windows 7. My home page is set to google.com.

When I use the search bar located next to the address bar at the top of the browser, it searches using google.com.vn. I bought this laptop in Vietnam and am currently living here. However, I'd rather if it used google.com.

It's the same problem when I copy some text and right-click on it to select 'Search Google for ....' It will search with google.com.vn.

I don't know how to change it. Can anyone help me out?

    any ideas are appreciated, thanks.

just change the default search provider by clicking on the drop down in the search box and choose a new search provider

    Correct.:)

Additionally, click on the drop down box and choose "Manage Search engines". This will allow you to delete those you don't want or require as well as allow you to add new search providers.

thanks for your quick replies. They helped me find the solution.

The problem is that the Google search add-on that is installed in firefox re-directs the search to the local provider. Which is why I was coming up with Google Vietnam, because I live here.

To solve this I just hit the 'get more search engines...' link in the 'manage search engines...' window. Then I used the Mozilla Add-on Site to search for google.com. Luckily enough there was an add-on specifically for me. The 'always google.com in English' add-on.

    Thanks for your help guys.
