i got a computer for school and they issued laptops but i wanted my own so theirs have windows 3 and mine is windows 7 and they say because of that i cant use their internet is that true or not?

They say you cannot use the internet. I think they mean that, they will not let you. The internet is not OS, specific. There is only one internet.

when i try to connect it asks for user credentials so idk if they will let me but my mom knows what shes talking about so im not too concerned

You try to have a wonderful, day. I hope your Mom is able to work things out with your school. I remember when I was in HS. I worked in Yankee Stadium. The school would not let me work for the World Series, because of class, my Mom could not even help.
