    Opera-The fastest browser!

The world's fastest browser just got faster!

    Check it here.

Opera breathlessly exclaimed, "You have never browsed this fast before."

It said the browsing speed is thanks to a fast JavaScript engine called Carakan, which is apparently eight times faster than its predecessor, running web applications faster and more smoothly.

The Opera 10.50 browser also includes an updated version of the company's Turbo technology, offering faster browsing on limited networks than any other web browser, it claims.

The 10.50 beta release is drawn on your screen using Opera's Vega graphics library. This enables fast and smooth graphics for everything from tab switching to animation on web pages.

Opera has also tweaked the user interface with a sleeker surface and added private browsing so you can browse and leave no trace of the websites you have visited or other actions you have performed.

I've tried 10.10, 10.20 and 10.50 and even Firefox Nightly builds. Chrome (in my opinion) still reigns supreme in terms of speed.

Have a look at the three Pictures in my post and note the difference in speed.

peacekeeper fails here regardless of which browser I test... Yet, visual analysis on this box show that IE and FF can't touch Opera relating to speed, it's not even close!

I have Chrome loaded but don't use it as I dislike the interface, it may be faster but I'm not willing to commit to it just because it's Google, they don't have that much clout!

Just trying it now. I hope it crashes far less than the alpha version.

The 'smooth mouse' scrolling is kind of jerky though compared to 10.10

Opera 10 is unresponsive when loading pages with heavy flash content

I still use FireFox as my main browser because of all the plugins/addons that I use, but I also use IE, Opera, Chrome and Safari. FF is great, but it takes a little long to start it up because of all my addons. When I want to look up something quick I use one of the other browsers.

I don't notice a huge speed difference with Opera 10.50 as opposed to the previous version.

This is because you may have very good internet connection. At least I, which have 5 computers at home, can radically see the difference. It's true that Chrome is faster, but Opera is the most complete built in browser, what I mean is, that without add-ons it can be more responsive and more multitasking than other browsers.
