help! IE has a 10-second delay when closing

I have Windows 7, been using it a couple months.

Suddenly, beginning yesterday, when I click the X to close my IE browser, there's about a 10-second delay before it disappears.

Every time. It's really annoying, especially since it's a new problem.

I'm not saying it's a Windows 7 problem, but any info or help is appreciated.

I am not a techie by any means....

thanks!

Go to Tools, Manage Addons and disable them one by one until you identify the issue. Can you also fill in your system specs - you can use the first part of my guide in the troubleshooting tutorial in my sig.

Did you install anything, just prior to when the problem commenced, that might have installed a plugin, toolbar or BHO? Whether you did or not, the easiest way to fix this might be to do a System Restore, assuming that you have a restore point dated conveniently.

Looks like I have all add-ons disabled. I try to keep things simple.

I did not install anything new.

Usually when I have a PC problem, it's something very common that I'm unaware of.

Issues fixed? If not, try system restore.

Switch to Firefox or Chrome.

Thanks for the tips.

I did a complete shutdown, left the computer off overnight, and the problem went away.
I typically just put my PC into sleep mode.

Tempermental computers and uninformed users don't mix, I guess.
