I can't seem to turn off the Windows Firewall becuase it is "being managed by vendor application McAfee Personal Firewall," which I am pretty darned sure I have turned off. As far as I know, I don'tg have any antivirus software other than McAfee installed.

makes more sense now. Disable its startup function by going to : start / run / type: msconfig / startup tab. find mcafee related items and un-check their related box. Reboot then try your secure site again. If this still doesn't work, disable your windows firewall and do the same.

I disabled the McAfee startup functions but when trying to disable the Windows firewall, it still says that McAfee is managing it. I have to go out to a dinner engagement now, damn it! But please don't give up on me. Keep those ideas coming in! Should I delete McAfee altogether?

Not only because of this problem, but dump Mcafee and get MSE in combination with Malwarebytes. You will save a lot of money, too.

I have suggest this for months, but I just downloaded for myself, recently and guess what I found malware; not found by any A/V or Windows Defender. The software gives a choice isolate or remove. I removed.

Here is Microsoft Security Essentials. Most agree. Although I think you had one poster who suggested other than malwarebbytes.

Cant' change domain on https site
I am logged into a domain "ABC". I open the browser and navigate to an HTTPS site that requires a login. That site is using AD to validate logins and passwords. Problem is, when the browser prompts for username/password it does not accept a domain name. It keeps the ABC domain. Any ideas here?
