Can't login to https site

Using IE8 on Windows 7 Pro on my laptop, I am able to login to the control panel of my Web site (hosted by Siteground, if that's significant) but on my desktop computer, with the same software, I can't. Siteground had me run a PING and a TRACERT and concluded that everything is just dandy and told me to find a "local computer technician" to solve this problem. The desktop is brand new (just a few days old) so I'm relatively confident that it has to do with a software setting somewhere as opposed to, for example, a blocked 443 port at the router. I experience the same problem in Firefox so I'm guessing the software issue isn't with IE8 specifically. Help?!

add the site to "trusted" sites. Then check your IE settings to make sure you're using SSL 2.0 and or 3.0

Brady,

I figured it out quickly. I did add the control panel to my trusted sites but it disn't work. Given the fact that it also doesn't work in Firefox, doesn't it suggest something other than an IE setting?

Yes, that does tell me that it's probably not IE settings. doesn't necessarily mean it's router either though, yet. Can you get to any online banking or insurance sites on that machine?

Yes and no

Yes, I can login to my SmithBarney account. I also ran the command, you suggested, which succeeded. However, I still can't get into the control panel of my site.

Ok so what Antivirus are you running? What I suggest now, is to disable your Antivirus and Windows Firewall. Windows firewall can be disabled through control panel. If this works, we'll then figure out how to add the "control panel" into your rule set to allow this while the firewall(s) are active.

I'musing McAfee security and I'm not sure what settings to check, though I have been through all the options looking for something.
