Why is it dead?!?!?!? IE6 works fine still. I just tested it out on my old XP machine. I don't get why they are having a funeral when it still browses the web. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number hp Pavilion dv7-6187cl OS Windows 7 Ultimate x64 Signature Edition CPU Intel Core i7 TurboBoost to 2.9Ghz Memory 8GB Graphics Card ATI Radeon HD 6770M Sound Card BeatsAudio with subwoofer Monitor(s) Displays 17.3" 1080p Matte (upgraded) Screen Resolution 1080p Keyboard Microsoft wireless keyboard 3000 Mouse Microsoft wireless mouse 6000 Hard Drives 2x 640GB Internet Speed ~~~FAST~~~~~~~~` Other Info 1GB readyboost in my SD slot, fingerprint reader |

IE6 isn't dead. We have tons of customers still trying to run our software on computers running IE6 and most of these people have no intention on upgrading their software either. It's sad, but it's 100% true. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Self-Built in July 2009 OS Windows 7 Ultimate x64 CPU Intel Q9550 2.83Ghz OC'd to 3.40Ghz Motherboard Gigabyte GA-EP45-UD3R rev. 1.1, F12 BIOS Memory 8GB G.Skill PI DDR2-800, 4-4-4-12 timings Graphics Card EVGA 1280MB Nvidia GeForce GTX570 Sound Card Realtek ALC899A 8 channel onboard audio Monitor(s) Displays 23" Acer x233H Screen Resolution 1920x1080 Keyboard ABS M1 Mechanical Mouse Logitech G9 Laser Mouse PSU Corsair 620HX modular Case Antec P182 Cooling stock Hard Drives Intel X25-M 80GB Gen 2 SSD

Agree with Drewpul. There is nothing really, really wrong with IE6. It just doesn't have all the modern features (tabbed browsing, ect.) that newer browsers have. It is still one of the most used browsers. You can find it in schools, libraries, gov. offices, ect. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number HP G50 Laptop OS Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit CPU 2.0ghz Intel Pentium Duel-Core (Merom) Motherboard Winston 360Bf Memory 2x 4.0GB Centon Duel-Channel DDR2 @ 333MHz Sound Card High Definition Audio Device Monitor(s) Displays 16" lcd monitor Screen Resolution 1280x800 Hard Drives 160GB Toshiba MK1652GSX Internet Speed Satalite Internet. Where I live it's uber slow. |

I work with people all day who refuse (or don't know how...or don't dare) tp update IE6. It's sickening. Every computer I have to take an hour to remove a virus or malware....I update it for them.....usually to Chrome...then show them how to use it. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Keeps changing - (Custom) OS Windows 7 Professional x64 CPU Intel Core i7 860 Motherboard Gigabyte GA-P55-UD4P Memory 4GB DDR3 Mushkin 1600Mhz @ 7-8-7-20 Graphics Card MSI GTS250 1GB DDR3 Twin Frozr Sound Card Onboard realtek Monitor(s) Displays Samsung SyncMaster 24" P2450 + Samsung 20" 2033 Screen Resolution 1920 X 1080 and 1600 X 900 (#2 system 1440 X 900) Keyboard Gigabyte USB keyboard Mouse Microsoft wireless laser mouse 5000 PSU Corsair 750 HX Modular Case Lancool PC-K62 Cooling Cooler Master TX3 CPU cooler and 4-140mm and 1-120mm case Hard Drives Patriot Inferno 120GB SSD + 3 WD Blue 640GB drives Internet Speed 7 Mb down 1.5 up Other Info System #2: AMD Phenom II X6 1055T (Freezer 7 Pro cooler) - Gigabyte 880GMA-UD2H - WD 500GB Black - 9500GT (1GB) 500W OCZ modular PSU - Antec 200 case. Right now that is.... but eventually ie8 could have just as many security issues. Ie6 came out in 2001, so hackers have had nine years to find all the security holes.

Not to mention the lack of support for modern web standards, which restricts a lot of what can be developed if so many people are still using IE6. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Custom Built OS Windows 7 Professional x64 Service Pack 1 CPU Intel Core i7 920 3.2GHz Motherboard ASUS Sabertooth x58 Memory 6GB XMS3 Corsair 1333MHz Graphics Card Zotac Nvidia Geforce GTX470 Sound Card ASUS Xonar DX/XD 7.1 Monitor(s) Displays Dell 24" S2409W + Dell 20" E207WFP Screen Resolution 1920x1080 + 1680x1050 Keyboard Logitech G11 Keyboard Mouse Logitech G5 Laser Mouse (2007 edition) PSU Corsair HX850 modular Case Coolermaster 690II Advanced Nvidia Edition Cooling Corsair H60 Hard Drives 1x 120GB OCZ Vertex 2E, 1x 750GB Western Digital Caviar Black, 1x 1TB Western Digital Caviar Green Internet Speed 16Mbps Other Info LG Blu-Ray player All times are GMT -5.
