Downloads get extra extension

Yesterday I downloaded some registry settings, .REG files. Before I was able to use them I first had to rename them from .REG.TXT back to .REG. I downloaded them using Firefox and in the download dialog I changed "txt file" into "all files", the file name retrieved from the website has the .reg extension without .txt. I've never seen this before, I've been working with Firefox for years and with Windows 7 for weeks so I guess W7 is the culprit.

Try removing the .txt part of the filename. After all .reg files are just text files.

Not at all, Firefox is doing it on its own depending on where you download said "reg" files from. Downloading "reg" files here does not append "txt" to them.

Is it just for .reg files? What you could try is associate .reg files with regedit and see if it pick sit up then?

Chrome Extension Idea - Extension Bar
I got a idea for a Chrome extension, but no where to request it. When you install extensions in Chrome it places all the extensions to the right side of the address bar. My idea is to have a extension bar below the bookmark bar that automatically hides it's self when the mouse isn't hovering...

Suggestions For Using An Extra SSD (or two)
I recently upgraded my 80GB Intel X25-M SSD to a 128GB Crucial M4. It's a long story, but I also have come into possession of a second 80GB Intel X25-M. I originally planned on using the old Intel SSDs as boot drives in my two spare computers. The thing is, my spare computers are not really...

extra keyboard
Hi there. Got a laptop with Windows 7 to which I want to hook up (regularly) an extra (USB) keyboard. Would it use up a noticeable amount of power and RAM? Thank you for your thoughts on that.
