    Microsoft Browser Choice Screen Update

I was offered the following update, KB976002, today. It was ranked as Important, but not automatically checked for downloading/installing.

Needless to say, I declined this update. Why should the EU dictate what browser I, or indeed anyone should use? If we want to use a different one, we would do so.

I also set it as Hidden so that I am not pestered by it again. Windows Update - Hide or Restore Hidden Updates

Well as I mentioned in another post, I installed this but it never showed up and is nowhere to be seen. It apparently only appears if IE is the default browser.

I had no problems with this update which I was offered on the 25th February.

I downloaded and installed it, when it brought up the screen to pick a browser I just clicked IE, it took me to the IE home page and told me that IE was already my default and the only thing I had to do was click on the IE icon to put it back on the taskbar, installing the update had removed it, I did that and then went and put the shortcut icon on my desktop into the recycle bin, that got emptied the following Monday.

    Job done.

Brand new laptop here, I retain full control over my updates (prefer it that way) and this update was the only one that was unticked by default; I don't wish to install anyway as I installed FF when setting up the machine.
