    Is this normal for FireFox?


    Is this normal for Firefox to use this much RAM?

    Pretty much. When you have multiple tabs open, and have it running for a while, yeah.

    not just tabs but plugins as well. Ive seen ff go much higher.

    seems about right, i have a very minimalist firefox, (no addons except flash and java and one tab open) and im hitting 97K so thats probably about right

    kari that is some serious ram usage on firefox there... i just mimicked your conditions im only gettin 104K you must have a LOT of addons....

    Yes, that kind of memory usage for firefox is totally normal. On my laptop right now, with only 4 add-ons installed and 5 tabs opened it's running at 190MB. No big deal though, as performance is great and I'm doing nothing else with the computer.

    Hmmmmmm, might be worth it to make a Tray App that just calls EmptyWorkingSet with the FF process handle once every 1/2 hour.
