I want to recover lost internet favorites after reforma

In the process of upgrading from Vista to Windows 7 , was given bad instructions by HP rep to custom install instead of the upgrade option. Lost all internet favorites of course. Another HP rep got laptop back to factory settings with Vista then it was upgraded to Windows 7 the proper way. Is there anyway to recover the Internet favorites. My wife cannot remember the URL to one of them. There were only five favorites originally created.

    Hi and welcome

If the drive was formatted and then win 7 installed correctly the chances of getting them back is slim. But if you know the names of the site we may be able to help you get links for them

The majority of people here would say doing a clean install is good advice, assuming the user has backed up their computer first of course. I've done it a few times myself and lost a ton of favourites, so I'd say goodbye to them and rebuild from scratch, ensuring to back them up once a month or more.

Just in case it helps, if you synchronised your phone with your PC, you may have backed up your favourites. Take a look! *Fingers crossed*.

For future use, Xmarks will save your favorites/bookmarks so you can easily recover from a situation like this.

They are gone, especially after 2 formats. Sorry.

That's why Chrome is great, in Chrome you can sync your favorites with your gmail account so that you can access them from anywhere in the world, no more need to backup favs..

There is an addon for FF called Weave which does the same thing, but I had a bad experience with it..

Or you can backup your important files, before doing anything that "might" overwrite them.

FEBE is good for that - it backs up all your Firefox settings, including bookmarks, add-ons, themes, etc. Saves a lot of time :)

Thanks . Tte website my wife cannot remember is similar to singer22.com but it is an imitation clothes place of what hollywood stars wear and way cheaper prices. It has the cover or picture from the magazine and then the price. I think I am going to back up all her favorites with Xmarks
