You can remove the "Windows Live Mail" entry from the Indexing Options list.

Type "indexing" in the Start Menu search box. Then click on the "Indexing Options" link. In Indexing Options, click on the Modify button. Under "Summary of selected locations" click on Windows Live Mail and remove that location from the index.

AFAIK, disabling indexing will not disable search.
