    Can't click email links

Just got a new emachines running windows 7. I love the os but the links in emails are not clickable! I need to right-click and 'save target as..' and put the url on the desktop to click it open. What's the story on that? That's the only thing I've found so far that is confusing. This is Windows Live mail.

    Welcome to SevenForums, chasthur!

I have Windows Live Mail running on one of my systems, and I don't have a problem clicking on an embedded link to go to the site.

Note that the original mail needs to have been sent as HTML (possibly Rich Text would work also.)

Try sending yourself a link in an HTML formatted e-mail. (Tools > Options > Send set to send HTML formatted messages.)

Thanks but no help either way. Set to html the sent url doesn't even change color. Set to rich text it changes color to blue but still won't click. I used Yahoo! and Google for urls.

Thanks but no help there. Sent in html the links don't change color, just plain text. Set to rich text they change color but same result. I used Yahoo! and Google as trials. Neither link will click here, either.

    Hello !!

What is your Default browser ?? Try making IE 8 as a default browser !!
If Windows Mail determines that a message might be a phishing e‑mail, it blocks access to all links in that message. If you're certain that the message is legitimate and you want to enable links in the message, open the message, and then, on the Information bar, click Unblock to enable links in the message.

Try this article see whether it helps Troubleshoot problems with Windows Mail

    Hope this helps,
    Captain

OK, that article showed me I have 2 different mail carriers: live mail and hotmail. It's the hotmail that won't click the urls and I found live mail in 'all programs' and it will click the urls. Thanks to both of you for the help and now I'll figure out how to just use the windows live mail.

have tried all the suggestions about getting the links to be active in my windows live mail. this is an intermittent problem. suspect the the emails are being suspected as having suspicious links but I don't get the blocked message. the messages have links to images that are saved on our website server as replies to form entries by artists. other committee members can open these links in outlook and gmail
