    Opera w/ Kubuntu 9.10

When I attempted to install this browser on Kubuntu, it produced an error saying that it wasn't compatible with the OS. The only reason that I can think of that this might be true, is because the version of Kubuntu in question is x64 and Opera is only x32, however this has never been a problem on any other OS that I have tried, either of Linux or Windows flavors. The Opera download site doesn't have Kubuntu amoung their download options, but I would assume that it is the same as Ubuntu. Any ideas on how to make it work? If it doesn't like my choice of browsers, then I won't like it either.

I would suggest that you would probably get a better response if you posted this question on the Kubuntu or Ubuntu forums and not the Windows 7 forums: Kubuntu Forums . Net or Ubuntu Forums

I appreciate your opinion, but I chose to post here because I sometimes gotten a better response here, than on a forum more closely associated with a problem...particularly with Linux questions. If no one posts an answer, I shall reconsider your idea later.

Have you tried installing through synaptic?

edit:Sorry...i forgot that Synaptic is not included in Kubuntu.

Maybe this work from the terminal?

    # Opera (finally 64 bit support!)
    # GPG: wget -O - http://deb.opera.com/archive.key | sudo apt-key add -
    deb http://deb.opera.com/opera etch non-free #Opera (finally 64 bit support!): http://deb.opera.com/opera etch non-free

As it turned out, my main problem was that I didn't know that there is an x64 Opera for Linux. Your mention of it caused me to look closer at the Opera download page and find the link for "other versions", and it installed just fine. Thank you.
