I was dubious about an April 1st release, even more dubious when it wanted a reboot after installation. It must have something to do with the particular exploit that was fixed.

hmm, mine didn't ask for an OS reboot. weird. I did it through the browsers update though.

I was kind of suspicious as well, when I posted it, the 2 links they gave for the fixed bug were inaccessible for some time after the update was posted on the site. The second link still is inaccessible.

yeah, I noticed the second link was disabled.

I downloaded the update from mozilla directly as it was taking eons to contact the update server. But that shouldn't have mattered regarding a reboot

Don't think I've ever had a ff update make me reboot on Windows 7, from browser update, or standalone. Strange.

Well in all fairness to Mozilla, this is the flaw that was exploited at Pwn2Own, so Mozilla went "oh crap, need to fix that", and they did, rather expediently.

True

Unfortunately, the downside to having an increasing user base is that there is always more incentive to exploit a browsers flaws

(and no, I've never had a browser update ask for a reboot either. Although didn't that exploit have something to do with DEP manipulation? However that doesn't explain why you didn't have to reboot, yet I did )

Perhaps something to do with what setting it's on, maybe? I have it on for all programs and services. I have no idea. Just spit-balling. lol
