IE8 mshtml.dll - Internet Explorer to stop working
I'm developing a GUI for an Telecoms Server. We are testing it on our private LAN so it is not accessible form the internet. This is done using Java EE 5 connecting to a web based application running on tomcat6 incorporating HTML, CSS, JSF, AJAX, Richfaces, Hibernate etc. There is no shockwave in the application. The files that are used to compile are xhtml.
The web app runs fine on Firefox and Chrome but in Internet Explorer 8 we get the following error:
- <Event xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/win/2004/08/events/event">
<Provider Name="Application Error" />
<TimeCreated SystemTime="2010-04-08T13:20:59.000000000Z" />
<Data>C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe</Data>
This causes the "Internet Explorer has stopped working" box to appear and IE recovers the tab. Now this error occurs on very occasionally and at different times so we cannot pinpoint the cause of the crash. I am running the latest version of IE8 (8.0.7600.16385) with add ons turned on but only the minimal addons installed (Java 18.104.22.168), Adobe Flash (10.0.45.2), Adobe PDF (22.214.171.124), XML DOM (6.30.7600.16385), XML HTTP 6.0 (6.30.7600.16385), windows Live ID sign in helper ((6.500.3146.0), Research (12.0.6423.0).
We cannot run in compatibility view as the page will not rerender propperly in that view and we cannot expect the customer to run IE in this way or with basic addons like these turned on. The trouble is the problem occurs so infrequently that turning off these settings may leave it running but we cannot be sure. What would be good would be if anyone knows what the data in this error report means..!
