    MSN/Live Messenger Freezes Win 7 64 PC

    Hello,

I am new here and can not find any answers to my issue (from MSFT or Dell). I have a Dell XPS 9000,i7-920, 12gb DDR3, AMD Radeon 5850, Win 7 64 Home Ultimate. Everything was working fine until I installed Windows Live Messenger and that's when my issue started. My PC would freeze everytime I booted up and Windows Live started up. I would then have to do a Hard Reboot. Sometimes it would get past that and it would freeze when I opened up IE8, Firefox, Chrome, MSN. I reinstalled the OS and as soon as I installed WLM or MSN the problem would arise. I reinstalled the OS a 2nd time and do not have this issue (since I have not installed WLM or MSN). Is there a compatibility issue with the latest build of Windows Live Messenger/MSN with Win 7 64 Home Ultimate. I NEED WLM since I have a MSN account. Thanks for all responses.

^I very much doubt it; I use 64-bit home premium and no problems here at all. Maybe it was a corrupted MSN install; dare u try again?

I had this aswell some time ago. W7 Ultimate 64bits.

Msn, Paint, Internet Explorer and Windows Media Player kept freezing/crashing. Reinstalling the OS worked for me, I guess it was a bad install of W7.

I am really scared to install again. I have reimaged twice already. I was thinking it may have been a corrupted install. I don't want to reinstall the OS again if that's not the issue. I spoke with Verizon reps (this is where I get MSN Premium from) and they gave me a different download site. May try again. Thanks for your response.

First of all delete it from autostart

    start > run > cmd > msconfig

WLM, the latest version is really shitty, people around the world has a hugh problem with it and microsoft cant tell whu ("nothing new")... Download Msn messenger 7.0 run it and upgrade the patches throug it.

I finally got WLM to run correctly. I downloaded MSN 1st, then upgraded Messenger 7.0 to the latest version of WLM. It works fine now. I do not have WLM start up automatically. Thx for all replies
